Which Cake?

It was our friend Laura's birthday this last week so in our normal tradition of being us, Jessica and I went all out. Well, at least with the cake and made this masterpiece-

This witch was all decked out from her multi-colored hat to the "nerd" warts and almond snaggle tooth, she was a sight to see. Oh and did I mention it was red velvet cake as well? UM! Now how did we manage to make this masterpiece? imagine if you will, a football shaped cake. Yep, good old creativity at it's best brought you this cake. So, take a look at those oddly shaped pans you pull out once or twice a year and see if there is a witch in a football for you.

Car Accidents, Sisters and Snow

Well, there has been a lot going on in the last few days. I will try to quickly sum it up, but some how I do not know that a blog post could even do these days justice.
I slept in thursday morning since thursday happened to be my day off so to speak. I woke up about the time that my friend Laura got into a pretty serious car accident. She called me and I ran to the scene of the accident, to see her fairly new car totaled and her in shock. Not a great way to start any day. I spent the rest of the afternoon and most of the evening at the hospital, getting perscriptions and making sure she got home ok. She was lucky that she is ok, except for the bruises and pulled muscles. This reminded me of how quickly things change and how much people really love you. There were people coming out of the woodwork to help, bringing diners, helping with laundry, and anything else that might need doing. It was a great way to see friends in action and I am grateful for a ward family who steps up to help when things happen.

I had a chance to see my sister this weekend. I have been terribly homesick the last few days. I called my mom and sisters to complain about it. My Mom seemed to sympathize before she bought airline tickets to go visit another sister that she just went to see in August. When I haven't seen her since the begining of May! Jessica has kids, so they are more important the the TWO daughters that are living in Utah. :)

But, back to seeing my sister...We went shopping and apparently all went on a shopping spree! My friend Ashley and I went down to visit, because Ashley's sister lives in Provo also, so the four of us get together on occasion. We had so much fun! I loved seeing Robin and it gave me a chance to get a little piece of family for a few minutes.Plus, it is always fun to watch her try stuff on, she bought some pretty fun shoes and a totally cute skirt and sweater. I know there was more, but t was fun to watch the fashion show of all of us coming and going and getting advice from everyone who was with us. We all have different styles, but it was a blast! It was good to see my sister and have a little bit of family time. It was what I needed, but Christmas seems very far away.

I was also introduced to the gas station drive-thru this weekend. Now, apparently here in utah this is normal! I have never taken notice or have never seen one. But to prove the point, my dear friend Jessica took me through one this weekend and we got GINORMOUS bottles of water. It was an experince. Now I can say, "Well when I went through the drive-thru at the gas station..."

And, as always I was working on the Nearly Naked Mile stuff. I am so glad that it is this week! I am ready to be done with it, and excited all at the same time! It is a wondeful thing, but I am very ready to not have to worry about it any more.

And then came Snow. It has snowed here a few times, where it didn't stick but this is the first snow that actually stuck for real! I am sure it will all be gone soon, but I to share with the friends in Texas and AZ what fall is really like...not 70 and 80 degree weather! ha ha ha! So enjoy with me, the first snow of the season...

Party Time!

It was Jessica's birthday so we threw her a surprise birthday party last night durring our weekly game night. We had so much fun! I started it off by making this to-die-for individual chocolate cakes with chocolate mousse drizzled in dark chocolate with raspberries and to wash it down a very simple and devine raspberry drink. It got RAVE reviews. And, let's admit it, it looked amazing too!

It was Jessica's golden birthday (ok, so we celebrated a few weeks late) so our theme was gold. Gold everything! It was so much fun. We took pictures and played karaoke. We laughed so hard that make-up was coming off and bathroom runs were a must! We also broke out the nicknames for the most important people. Jeremy's nickname is Smalls (back of the couch), Logan's Biggie (in the black shirt), Jessica BG (Beside me on the couch) and I am now known as AA. So in random conversations with us you will hear things like "Hey, Smalls, have you seen BG cause I gotta chat with the SS about her BFF, AA." Really, that is what someone said.
I have way too much fun with these guys! I am uploading some karaoke videos that I should be posting soon, so watch out for those. They should be hilarious!

And Now I Know...

So for conference weekend my friends and I rotated houses for sessions. It was lots of fun and we had some great food. I will be posting an amazing egg casserole recipe soon, it is amazing!

Conference was great, I loved it. Between sessions we played on Jeremy's Wii, PS2, PS3 and all kinds of board games. I know you hear it a lot, but being single in a married world (at least in the church, at my age) is not the easiest thing in the world. Do not get me wrong, I am happy with where I am and that things worked out the way they did, but it can be pretty hard sometimes. With my family so far away and being single, my life really is my friends, and I have some great ones. I realized how great they were over the weekend, when I could share conference with them and it was fun! I loved conference! I am so grateful that the Lord has blessed me with such wonderful friends, married or not, far or near, young and old. I am so loved!

Good Friends

I have some of the best friends in the world (for me at least). It is so much fun to hang out with them and they all pull together when one of us is having a hard time, good time or has a birthday. Since I have no family around here my friends are my family and I have to love that they are all so great about it.

Jessica is one of my best friends. She and I have a lot in common and have been friends since we were assigned as visiting teaching companions. It has just been so much fun. Recently Jessica and I went to disneyland together, and we had a blast! I love Jessica and am grateful regularly that she is my best friend. And we have the texts, minutes on our phones and gas bills to prove it. She understands my need to giggle, cry, and spend money on occasion. We are two of the same craziness, and I love that she is able to laugh and make me laugh too. She is great and I love her.

Jeremy is my other best friend. Our friendship started after a sunday school lesson when he boldy said, "that was a great lesson Nichole." ha ha! Our next experience together involved a night of mexican food and lots of questions. And then, the night of 3 1/2 hours in the church parking lot after FHE talking. It was crazy how much we have in common and for how long we can talk. We never run out of things to say and there are always things to do. My Jeremy friend also indulges my love of forgein chocolate, and karaoke. He listens and always sees the good in me and always seems to know when all I need is just to have someone listen. I give you my disney-loving, halo playing, frank sinatra listening, somoan speaking BFFL (ha ha ha!), Jeremy.

Who are your friends?

Oh so fun

So I headed to Disneyland last weekend with some friends. We had so much fun! Our feet hurt so bad that I wasn't sure that I would ever be able to walk again, but alas...I can. So many stories, but I am just going to let the pictures do the talking today.

I am back!

I am back from my Disneyland trip! So many things to tell everyone, but I am battling a crazy cold and with school starting and work...I am exhausted. But I promise tomorrow a real post with real details! Until then, enjoy this fun pictures of Jessica, Steph and I.

Fun at FHE

Yes, I still take part in the age old tradition of Family Home Evening. What it really is is a time for us single adults to hangout and flirt. Really, it is true.
So this last week we had lots of fun. As you may be able to tell by the pictures. We did an incredibly long slip and slide down a hill in a park. Too much fun! We had a blast. We even soped up the slide to make for a more interesting and goss mess. Hey, it was a chance for some of the guys to get thier weekly cleaning...so sad!

Later we went to dinner and that was fun as well. We went to a mexican place, Patricia's. It was good, just not my fav. But I got some great pictures of people. (and none of these are 'him')
