Quote of the Day

Me: "Sam (names changed of course!) you can't hit Sally with that toy. It isn't nice. If you do it again you will have to go into time out. Ok?"
Sam: "No, you will just go check your email and I will just go be mean to somone else."
You know the parents check to much email when the kids are telling other adults that kind of thing. Oh the joys of kids!

Definitions

I am an Insomniac, Stressed, in Pain, have Fear about Work and am Eclectic.

Insomniac: prolonged and usually abnormal inability to obtain adequate sleep

Stress: one of bodily or mental tension resulting from factors that tend to alter an existent equilibrium

Pain: a basic bodily sensation induced by a noxious stimulus, received by naked nerve endings, characterized by physical discomfort (as pricking, throbbing, or aching), and typically leading to evasive action

Work: the labor, task, or duty that is one's accustomed means of livelihood

Fear: to be afraid or apprehensive

Eclectic: selecting what appears to be best in various doctrines, methods, or styles

I am all these things. The good, bad and ugly. I like the person I am. I am comfortable in knowing I am not average. I will never meet certain standards in this world, but I am a beautiful, talented, smart, funny and charismatic person with a lot to offer. I am this and more.
I challenge you, whoever you are, where ever you are, to think about and realize who you are. Not who others think or want you to be, but who you are dependant of children, school, work...all the daily pieces. They help define you but aren't your definition. Be proud of your unique qualities and accepting of the things that you are now, not always wishing you were.

I am Me, and I like who I am.

Today

Today was a busy day. It was get-everything-off-your-to-do-list-day. So after spending my first two hours on the phone with my sister Rachel and my brother Ethan, I got up and started my day. After getting ready for the day I did the following things:

1) Cleaned the carpet in the living room
2) swept and mopped the kitchen floor
3) cleaned the kitchen sinks and counters
4) completed some paper work for my back injury
5) completed some school work
6) paid bills
7) worked
8) went to target to buy clothes pins
9) went to costco to buy eggs
10) made a yummy dinner of taco's
11) made my weekly menu
12) wrote and replied to all emails in my reply box (more than you want to know about!)
13) updated all websites
14) moved all furniture back into place
15) made cookies

Plus a few misc things. It is interesting to see what you do in a day if you really write it all down. I am a list writer. I like lists. They make it easy for me to work on the things I need to and to prioritize what needs to be done.
This week I was also "heat attacked". It made my day.

We made chocolate oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. We thought they were great but we think the recipe needs just a little tweaking. So I will post the recipe soon, after we try our tweaks.

What did you do today?

Serious?

The saga of the car continues. It died again. It is frustrating. So after talking with my dad, I am in the market for a new car. I have to have one. So if you happen to have one lying around, let me know.
When my Mom heard about the car she sent me in an email. This is what it said:

I had to laugh. That is my Mom for you. I hope your week was better than mine.

bits and pieces

Much of my life is currently consumed by the almost-here wedding of Melinda. She makes a beautiful bride, and I am LOVING the bridals we got. I love the composition of this picture, it just feels like contentment and peace to me.

Also, my dear friend Liz had her baby this week, congrats to the Jensen's! Issac is adorable and I can't wait to meet the little one.

I have also fallen in love with reusable shopping bags. I have been researching and pricing and falling in love with them for months now. I started with one and am slowly building up my collection. What a great way to do my part!

Wallpaper Obsessions

Ok, so I am addicted to blogs. I love them, I admit it. I love all kinds, from design to interesting facts, I love them. I am not ashamed to say that I check my favorite blogs daily. Lately I have noticed a reoccurring theme in my design blogs. A new love of wallpaper. Living in a house COVERED in wallpaper, I have less than love for it it seems, but I have become more and more intrigued lately. I could do some projects with some of these stunning papers...just not on my walls.

And today, this one took the cake. Visit Coveiter for the full blog, complete with video clips of willy wonka and his flavorful wallpaper and lots of design styles. This one made my day, the smelly ones. Apparently it is scratch and sniff type of wall paper. Now tell me, where would you put a scratch and sniff, smelly wallpaper?
