One Week and Counting

Girls camp is one week away. Just one. I am beginning to stress. There are a million and one things left to do and I am about to lose my mind!

I finished one project this week. I still have the following to accomplish before heading to camp:

See and finish journals for girls and leaders
Get boards for craft project
Pack
Paint 36 spoons
Make 40 more "service sister" bracelets
Make spoon tags
Make bracelet tags
Make signs
Print song lyrics
Copy lip synch song to CD (for show and girls)
Prep crafts
Pack for me

And more that I know I have left off the list. My poor husband commented that we needed more cereal because we were eating it for dinner a lot lately. I felt so bad! Girls camp has taken over my life. It will be a fun week but I am now ready for it to be done!

My Passions: Crafts

So I am always working on some project or another but at the moment I have been working on a quilt. I pretty much love this pattern and it is easy and versatile. As I get my feet under me with the quilting, I have a few other patterns that I am dying to try. I am drawn to a more modern aesthetic, not into flowers and traditional "quilts". I like to go a little modern and I love doing wall hangings.
So, watch for the next few weeks for pictures and to see the progress of this pretty amazing quilt.

Happiness and Joy

I have so much fun with my girls. Really, they bring more joy than I can tell you. I love that I get "craft time" regularly and am amazed at their creativity. Check our this super cute bird mask that Livy made!
She mixed a few colors for the face and then a few for the beak and diluted them so they were more water based and blended really nice. Then, after they had really dried (more than 24 hours later) we dry brushed the white around the eyes and some dark blue (you can't really see in the pictures) and some darker yellows to outline the beak. She hand picked the feathers and added them and trimmed them to look just right. Then added the little diamonds at the corners of the eyes so that they would sparkle. This project took hours but she was bummed when it was finally done. Loved the project but didn't want to be done. I love her enthusiasm.

My cute Kiki worked just as hard on hers. She mixed the perfect oranges and reds and yellows to make the perfect tiger color. After wet painting the mask orange we let it dry then dry brushed the white down the nose. We added stripes in all the places she thought Tigers should have stripes. She looks pretty tiger like if you ask me.
.
I find happiness in little things lately. In the 5 boxes of girl scout cookies that I ordered. I found joy in putting 4 boxes of Girl Scout cookies in the freezer and then eating the other one. In finding cute summer shoes that fit. In finding great new gym clothes. In compliments from strangers and people I know and love. In knowing that I am in the right place.
.
I also find joy in Black & Whites. These gems are a big thing in NYC and whenever my friend goes to NYC (every month or so) she brings one back for me. I was happy when she came back late yesterday and had one for me. I have been savoring every amazing bite. Check these out the next time you are in NYC. Worth it.

Room #1- Craft Room

Yep, the time has come to start sharing the new decor of the new house. I have a craft room and it is amazing. TONS of storage and an amazing walk in closet for storage of all my craft pieces. I am so excited about this room. There will also be a bed in the room so that it can double as a guest bedroom, but I am doing the whole daybed thing so it is more like a couch in there. But I have my first piece to add to this great room.

I was given this gem because it made someone think of me. Which kind of confused me at first, cause I am not really a tea cup kind of girl, but then after thinking about it...it is me. A very eclectic piece that I am just dying to build off of. So, that is obviously going to be the focal point of the room, now I am just trying to find great other inspiring pieces to add to the room. Some suggested an Alice in Wonderland Theme, but I am not really sold on that at all. But, we'll see.

Stay tuned for more bits and pieces. There will be lots more.

An Advantage

...to having a bum leg that I get to elevate and rest for a few more days is that I get to take time to sit. Sitting lets me do some things I haven't had a chance to do lately. Such as:

1) work on and hopefully Finnish the afghan I have been working on.

2) write in my journal.

3) watch an episode of ER that brought back one of my all time favorite characters, which I would have missed had it not been for the sitting.

4) I get to read for long periods of time.

5) I have had lots of time to ponder my next move with my hair.

6) find great new recipes online

7) been able to catalog all my pictures, not just by month but by event as well.

8) I did my nails

9) Planned my garden for the year

and

10) find new blogs to love :)

Tired

Well, today was a crazy day. I love it! I love being busy. But today, was the culmination of so many things that it was hard to even know where to start.
.
Well today was my super Saturday. It went wonderfully! It was so much fun. It started early this morning and my wonderful Logan friend woke up early to come help set up chair and tables and I was so grateful. Then we set up and let me tell you, it just got crazy! So many girls and crafts...it just was so wonderful! I couldn't have planned it better. I even got Logan to make a few crafts for his Mom and sisters as Christmas gifts!
.
I am grateful for wonderful girls who see me and want to give me hugs and tell me that they love me. I need to hear that. I need to get those hugs. I need to know that just because I asked, that friends come early to set up chairs, help cut food, clean up or whatever I might be in need of. I am so grateful!
