Things that make Me Happy

I was thinking about it, what makes me happy. My friend Tricia and I had an anxiety/stress free night last night and it got me thinking about what makes me happy and light hearted. So I started to make a list.

Screaming loudly and feeling like I can makes me happy. If I can do that I know that I am in a place with people, who know and understand me. I feel loved and acceptated. The ability to "freak out" and not worry that I will thought of as a totally insane person is comforting. Not that I walk around trying to freak out just beacause I can. I just like to know that I can if I wanted to.

I love the sound of the cello. I do. My favorite cellists are Yo-Yo Ma and Eric Lee. I love how rich the sound of a cello is and how it can be the rich undertones of a song or it can just as quickly become the melody with everything else behind it a bit of sound. My two favorite songs on the cello, (beacuse I can't pick only one!) are Simple Gifts by Yo-Yo Ma and Alison Krauss and Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major also by Yo-Yo Ma which can be found on his CD "Classic Yo-Yo". The CD is full of great music and is a must have for me. One of those 3 CD's you would take with you to a desert island. The cello makes me happy.

Yellow makes me happy, and glittery jewelry makes me happy. So it stands to reason that I love yellow diamonds. I do understand that yellow diamonds are more expensive than white. I know that to many it seems a fad, colored diamonds. But, to me yellow diamonds are beautiful. I love the burst of shimmery color in yellow diamonds. They make me happy.

My Ipod makes me happy. I love having my entire music library right at my finger tips, no matter where I am. I love that I can listen to it at lunch or watch a movie or episode of my favorite TV show, can any one say, The 4400? I can.
I love that I can put my ipod on shuffle and listen to some Poison and then a song from Hello Dolly, followed by a little bit of Rascal Flatts. I love it! Ipods were made for music fanatics like me. My ipod makes me happy.

Books make me happy. I love to read. I crave reading like people crave chocolate. I love them. I love getting my thumb black from reading the pages of a new book that I have just purchased. I love getting wrapped up in the world of the author and getting so frustrated with the book that I talk to it and have to put it out of sight. I love talking about books. I love to find someone who has enjoyed the same book I have and then discussing our favorite characters and the things that they did. If you like suspense novels I highly recomend The Last to Know by Wendy Corsi Staub. Anything by her is good. The earlier ones are best, the newer ones have more graphic love scenes that I for one, can do without. If you have a sci-fi/fantasy streak like I do, The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan is amazing. For the church book fans out there, I really like anything by Susan Evans McCloud is great but my favorite is A Face in the Shadows.
Books make me happy.

Movies make me happy. I am a huge fan of movies of all kinds. I don't do horror, but almost anything else if fair game. I love the ability to turn on a movie and lose yourself in another world for an hour or so. I love the chance to get the book feel for an hour or so. I admit, I can't get enough! If you can handle musicals and a little big of cheese, a must watch is Bride and Prejudice (a bollywood movie, amazing!). On a more serious note, Freedom Writers with Hilary Swank is a must see in my book. For kids, Pete's Dragon is an opportunity to really believe that your imaginary friend is real, plus it is lots of fun.

I love sheet music. I love the first time reading through it, the first sight reading ofa piece you can't wait to learn. I love knowing you are going to perform it. I love the second after you perform a piece, the moment before the audience responds. I love it.

I love money. For all the right reasons. I love money in that when I save it I feel as sense of accomplishment when I am able to do something that I have been working toward. I love that money allows me to visit my family and friends and get the fun toys.

I love beds. I love warm flannel sheets with comforters all fluffy piled high. I love pillows to lay my head on. I love the feel of snuggling up in bed with a good book before bed. I love the feeling of opening my eyes completely comfortable and warm and conent. I love sleeping in beds.

I love LDS Temples. I love the beauty of them, the spirit I feel when I am there and what it represents. I love to knowledge that I will be with my family forever. I love that I find a purpose in my life through temple experiences. Temples make me happy.

What makes you happy?

Wow, Nikki! Such awesome things to be happy about. Right now, I am happy I can swallow soup without too much pain. But, under normal circumstances I would have to say (in NO particular order): 1- My kids; 2- My Hubby; 3- Music; 4- Silence; 5- Birds singing; 6- Wind blowing & the chimes that beat from them. I could go on, but then you might think you were hearing another verse from the Sound of Music! Thanks, Nikki! This was awesome!!

Great job with the layout and the pics. There are so many things that make me happy, most are on your list as well. My honeybear, and of course Michael... things that sparkle, I also enjoy yellow diamonds, books, being in nature, fresh fruit & veggies, the Mesa Temple in particular... the list continues...

Mmmmmm... that yellow diamond is so yummy. When we went to DC, I got to see the hope diamond. It was HUGE! I wish I could have that hanging around my neck. Anyway, some things that make me happy are 1. finding a cool deal at a sale, 2. happy family moments, 3. rain. 4. traveling, 5. fresh cinnamon rolls, 6. a fresh haircut... ETC!!
