So, I understand that every where has different sayings, accents and oddities about how they speak. Some seem less noticeable than others but everywhere has them. Everywhere.
There just a few utah-isms that drive me crazy.
1) "I want to watch a show"...I understand where this comes from and such, but why can't some Utahans get that they are movies. "Shows" are on tv and last 1/2 hr to 1 hr. "Movies" are shown in theaters and are generally longer in length. I can see someone calling a tv movie a "show" and not be too irritated, but c'mon!
2) "Isn't my pellow nice" PILLOW. There is an I not an E. Thanks.
3) "I am heading over to laytin, you know in the mountins". It is Layton and Mountain. Maybe Utah didn't teach phonics.
I know there are others but these are the ones that have been bugging me more lately. I normally don't mind but this week has been annoyingly full of them. I have been known to say "mountin" on occasion but I try very hard to say "mountain".
