New Fangled

Sometimes the new
kicks out the old
to make room for shiny, bright things
but often the old were better than new
but you only know
once they've been replaced
.
Too often the old get thrown out
or shoved
to the back of a dark closet corner
there they sit
just biding their time
until those new shiny things
will replace it again
this time
in that dark closet corner
.
The moral my friends
isn't to toss or give it away
but take thought to the things you replace
though they may be shiny
sometimes the old just do the trick
better than any new fangled
updated version
of our respectable old things
.
Old friends are especially hard to replace
though the updated version is nice
the old stories and laughter
sometimes just do the trick
when the newest version just won't suffice

St. Patty's Day

In honor of this wonderful holiday...I give you this:

Three leaf clovers are said
and four leaf clovers too,
to bring you luck
so I found about 42.
Rainbows have a pot of gold
if you can only find the end,
But they are just a circle, or so I'm told.
Finding a little extra luck
that's what I am trying to do,
I even kissed the Blarney...
what else can I do?

I hope that this day of green and leprechauns finds you and all of yours with a little extra luck. And hopefully you find that pot-o-gold or maybe just a resolution to a frustrating situation.
I am enjoying some green oatmeal at the moment and plan on a day full of lucky encounters.

Yearning
.
Coming and going
it is a constant in this inconstant world
trading up or down in the grand scheme
yearning for the next step
never quite ready
not content to stay where you are
.
Standing still
never moving
as the world rushes past
changing, growing, learning
stagnant and quiet
pleading to move on
to experience and become
.
The ache engulfs
strips you of reason
just the sureness of not moving
not becoming
and wanting what you cannot have
.
It never changes
the world swirls on
changing colors and time
you love and cry
pleading for the peace you never seem to find
desperately believing that one day it will come
clinging to that thought
that hope
.
Knowing there is more
seeing it, feeling it
screaming to be heard
begging to be invisible
the world turns
not waiting or caring
just sure that change will come
not where or when
just that it will
