Echo Triathalon

So volunteering for this triathalon was lots of fun and for a great cause. The triathalon donates a portion of the money it makes to a foundation for families of children who die of cancer and are unable or unprepared to handle funeral expenses. With such a great cause, how could I not be a part of it?

So like I mentioned before we camped out the night before and woke up at 4:20am. Very early for 8am me. I woke up, got dressed and started packing up my pieces and Tricia finally starts to wake up and complains about the cold. I laugh and tell her she still has to get up. So she counts to 3 and throws the top half of her blankets off and starts going into convultions! It was the funniest thing I had ever seen. I burst out laughing, it was a great way to start my day.

We helped direct traffic for the first little while then got transfered to the road blocks to block traffic from entering the coarse. I was paired up with our friend Tom. Now, Tom is a nice guy. Really. But he slept about 90% of the day. Leaving me to deal with traffic. So nice of him!

After the bike portion of the day we helped with clean up and take down of the event. I got a little sun, but most of the light burns I got have faded away by today. It was lots of fun and we got great bright yellow shirts for our time.

Afterward Tricia and I went down to the lake to just put our feet in the water. Well it was mud all over the beach so we just enjoyed squishing our feet in the mud. It felt good!

We had so much fun helping out and doing service. If that doesn't help you forget about your problems, I don't know what will. Get out and do some service...it is worth it!

Boys are like that, sleeping all day after a long night, they really aren't as tough in some ways as we girls are.
