ATTENTION!

NEWS!!!!!!!!!!
Ok, first and most important...
I HIT THE 100 LB MARK! YIPPPEEEE!!!!!
*excuse me as I do a dance and jump up and down*

Ok, so in honor of that I have set up a photo shoot and will have some pretty awesome pictures to show off soon. I have also contracted with this photographer to do a series of photo shoots with me over the next year. Some at my races, at the gym, just all around in my life so that you guys can follow it. It is pretty amazing really.

Also, because of this, I am going to be part of a promo for my gym/trainer! Videos of me training will be up online showing progressions of Olympic lifts and such. As well as some printed posters and stuff. WOOHOO!!!

Also, in honor of this, I am going to be a featured guest blogger on "Or So She Says" sometime in the next few weeks. I share some pretty intimate details about my weight loss journey and my tips. Which will of course be linked back to my "Fit With a Side of Cheesecake" blog which is where you will be able to read all about my journey.

And my 5k is only 2 weeks away.

Is anyone else as excited about this as me? I don't think that they are.

Bribings

I took Nyquil last night and while I slept well, I did not wake up very well. I had to bribe myself to get out of bed by saying I would take myself to McDonalds for breakfast. An egg mcmuffin really isn't that great.
I am starting to feel a bit better. I even did a few miles today, which is progress. My 5k is in a few weeks and I am beginning to get the nerves. I am betting I will be addicted though.

Running and Running...

I am intrigued. I have just heard about the Stair Stampede that takes place on the 16th of this month. I don't know that I can train that fast for it, but I would love to do it! Hm...

I have started the training for the races I am supposed to do this year. I am told that I can train for the marathon and should be fine, but I am still nervous about that. I feel confident in the 5k, 10k and am feeling like I could do the 1.2 marathon. The jump from 1/2 to whole is just a little crazy for me. We'll see though. I keep you guys updated on what and when and where I'm running. I am actually really excited! Here is to no injuries this year!

Excuse Me

I never broke bones growing up. I had a bump, a bruise, a scrape and cried a few tears but that was the extent of my injuries. When I was 5 I busted my lower lip and needed stitches...that stunk. I busted my knee at work once and had to have it scoped, not fun.

After a car accident I had a sling and that put a cramp in my style. I took a spill on the ice a couple times and strained a knee. And last year I had fell on the ice and hurt my back. I was in bed for a few weeks dealing with that pain.

And a few weeks ago on my birthday, I broke the middle finger on my right hand. You would be surprised at how much you rely on that one little finger.

All in all I have managed to succeed in being relatively injury free.

Until now.

My great plans to run that 5k have been dashed. On Friday after my run I had this pain in my leg and I thought maybe I had stepped wrong or something. I kinda brushed it off in that moment. A few minutes later I couldn't brush it off. On my way home I was in tears pushing the clutch in and letting it out. Something was very wrong.

I am so upset! It hurts like crazy and being up on it too much kills. So guess who broke their leg? If you guessed me, you would be right. I have a stress fracture in my left leg. I am super bummed.

So this means no 5k in May. BUT it does not mean that I am not doing a 5k. I just have to push it back a few months. I have to wait about 8 weeks before I can run again so I am just doing low impact starting next week, depending on my leg. Weights with the upper body until I can do anything that is weight bearing. I am so annoyed. I really just want to run!

So, excuse me as I complain. I think that maybe this time, it is truly warranted.

Oh, and be watching Modern Eclectics for a giveaway or two...

One Mile

I have been running intervals this week. It helps build the muscles and build stamina...but man, if you don't like to sweat, don't do it.

I can now run an entire mile guys, all at once, not in segments! BIG DEAL! Not very fast, but it isn't about speed right now, it is about distance. Once I have the distance down we can talk about speed, ok?

Next week I start in on some more core work...you would think I would enjoy that, but I dread it. I will run on the treadmill or outside for hour or so, but please, oh please, don't ask me to do core work.

This week is intervals and back/shoulder work. I don't mind it much, but I think I over did it yesterday. And I have this knot in my right shoulder that didn't like it one bit.

I would take a picture of me on the treadmill, but I am pretty sure that it is disgusting and you really don't need to see that.

And a cool side note...10 pounds down this month. :)

Training Update

So I am still going strong with my training to do that 5k in May. Lots of people have said that they wanted to run it with me, but I will wait and see if anyone does. I don't care if no one does, I am not doing this for anyone but me.

I have found great joy in running. Which surprised me to no end. Who'd've (ok, that word is crazy! Really a contraction of a contraction? but it is legit, I looked it up) thought I would actually really love to run? I am always happy to head to the gym after work and spend an hour or so on the treadmill. And, I have gotten better at it too.

Today I ran most of two miles and then walked for one. ME! If you would have told me 3 months ago I would have done that I would haved laughed at you. But I did. So I indulged myself and went and bought a new pair of yoga pants which I love to run in.

So, I should be well on my way to making my goal of running the whole 5k with no walking involved. I have 3 months today until the run so I am pretty sure I can add the extra mile and half (just for good measure) by then.

Do You Know?

Ok, I am frustrated my friends.
I am quickly approaching my next birthday, and while that is it's own story, I am frustrated that I am not finding quality guys. Don't get me wrong, I know lots of good guys, but there is not one among them who is dating potential to me. They are just not. So I have tried lots of different means and still, nothing. Where do you find quality, good, hard-working guys?
Now I do realize that I send this out into the cyberspace full of married friends, most of which have been married for years, but c'mon! There must be ideas!
I have been training for my 5k this week and let me tell you, wow. I am more excited everyday! I even found the running shoes that I want. We'll see how that goes, but I am more and more excited about it.
I'm really enjoying the bits and pieces of this year so far. Ups and downs, as always, but I really am surprised at my determination to make this year a good one and to be better than I was. I'll have to do a blog on my "re-dedications" soon and my I.H.I.P. You'll enjoy those.
Have a great day my friends!

Ah, Cold

It is super cold in Utah right now. And I mean cold. It is 8 degrees outside and it is supposed to get colder still. Gotta love the cold, right?

It has been a crazy week, full of changes and friends and work...lots of stuff. Courtney, my new roommate moved in this week and I am loving it. We did some heavy cleaning and redecorating. A new start for the house and I am happy about it.

Also, I am starting my training this week to run in a 5k this spring. I am so oddly excited! I just have this burning desire to do it, so I am. :)

Just watch, this year is going to hold a lot of surprises for me. Including some amazing hair! Check out the natural curl...some days it just loves the curls. Thanks for that Dad.
